A brief description of Torre Pedrera’s history: this area was named after the tower build by the Papal States in 1673. Inhabitants used riverbed rocks to build their houses and this is why the area was called Torre della Pedreira (Tower of rocks). The strategic position of Torre Pedrera was essential in controlling maritime activities especially when protecting the area by Saracen pirates and Turkish invasions.
